The sapphire differs from the ruby only in color. The sapphire is also part of the Corondum family of gems. Sapphires color differs from the lightest of blues, to a blackish blue. Sapphires value is also based on its’ color. The most valuable shade of the sapphire is velvety blue. Larger sapphire stones are more commonly found than rubies of a similar size, therefore sapphires values does not advance with an increase in size so rapidly as it does to rubies. The finest of sapphires are called Cashmere sapphires. Cashmere sapphires are found in the Himalaya Mountains. Cashmere sapphires possess a cornflower shade, without the slightest trace of green and black.
