    Bracelets in History

Bracelets are just as common among savages as necklaces are. It seems that every race in mankind has worn bracelets. Bracelets actually had some uses unlike necklaces. Often times bracelets were constructed of a heavy metal ring. The outer edges of the ring were sharpened, and were used as throwing discs. It is said that one of these throwing discs could cut a manís head off at considerable distances. Some tribes made bracelets with heavy spikes on them, which they used as deadly weapons. Some tribes used large bracelets and armlets of dried skin as shields. As with necklaces early man probably used perishable items to make bracelets. Bracelets were not only used for protective measures, but they were also used for decoration and adornment. Often times beads and other objects were strung together to make a bracelet.
